Demonetisation: KCR Got Better Bargain Than Naidu!

Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is not a coalition partner of the National Democratic Alliance at the Centre; yet he got a better bargain from Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the ongoing demonetisation, than Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

The state has been reeling under acute shortage of currency supply in wake of the demonetization and Naidu, who staked claim that it was he who had given the idea of banning higher denomination notes has been silent over the issue and did not speak to the Prime Minister about it.

It was widely quoted that Chandrababu Naidu has written a letter to the Prime Minister to pull out Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 notes.

“When it comes to replacement, Andhra Pradesh got a raw deal and Chandrababu Naidu has never opened his mouth. While Telangana state has received Rs 20,000 crores in new currency, our state has got only Rs 14,000 crores despite Chandrababu Naidu and his TDP being an ally in the NDA coalition,” YSR Congress party spokesman Botsa Satyanarayana said on Friday.

Reiterating that the Chandrababu Naidu government has a poor opinion on farmers and agriculture, Botsa said the just concluded Collectors’ Meet has failed to discuss the people’s issue, more so that of farmers, but the focus was on fixing growth rate without any basis.

“The extent of sowing operations this rabi season has drastically fallen and there seems to be no discussion or any action plan to mitigate the suffering of the farmers. Instead, the conference focused on fixing higher growth rate without fulfilling the basic norms and indicators of growth were not taken into account as the state has failed to look into the slide of agriculture sector this rabi season,” he alleged.
