The fight for justice by retired head priest of Lord Venkateshwara temple in Tirumala A V Ramana Deekshitulu took a political turn on Thursday with his meeting with YSR Congress party president and leader of opposition Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.
Deekshitulu drove to Jagan’s residence at Lotus Pond at around 4.30 pm and held a closed-door meeting with him for about 20 minutes. After the meeting, Jagan came out up to Deekshitulu’s vehicle and saw him off.
Though what exactly transpired between Jagan and Deekshitulu is not known, but the retired head priest told the media later that he had met the YSRC chief to explain the injustice done to him by the TTD administration.
“What’s wrong in meeting Jagan? I will meet anybody who extends support to my struggle for justice. He assured me that he would do justice to me once he comes to power,” Deekshitulu said.
He said he also tried to meet chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, but did not get the appointment.
“I abide my allegations and I am ready for any kind of enquiry. I will support those who assure me of filling my stomach,” the retired priest said.
Analysts say Ramana Deekshitulu should have refrained from meeting political leaders like BJP national president Amit Shah and now Jagan, if he is fighting for a cause.
“Even if one were to assume that there is a truth in his allegations of financial irregularities in the TTD, he should have fought against them legally. His meetings with the Opposition party leaders lends credence to the allegations of the TDP that there is a political conspiracy behind his allegations,” a media analyst said.
As expected, TDP leaders like Bonda Uma launched an attack on Deekshitulu, alleging that he was part of Operation Garuda launched by the BJP with the help of YSR Congress party to run down the TDP government.
“The conspiracy has now been clearly exposed,” he said.
