The Mega Event Bathukamma-Dasara by the Dallas Area Telangana Association (DATA) celebrations ended with a great gathering in South fork Ranch, Parker, Texas.
Each year it culminates into a matter of pomp and gaiety. As always the annual DFW Bathukamma & Dasara Panduga was celebrated on September 20th 2014 under the banner of Dallas Area Telangana Association (DATA).
DATA Bathukamma & Dasara celebrations had many first-of-its kind activities like Raavan Dahan, Fireworks, Bounce House for Kids, Dasara Veshalu (Fancy Dress Competition), Onsite Food Trucks, Bathukamma Nimajjanam and Jammi Pooja.
The Mega Event saw over 3500+ people thronging to celebrate Bathukamma (festival of life). The event center was South Fork Ranch in Parker City near Dallas, Texas. The stage was huge, the weather was perfect.
The event started at 4:30 PM, where hundreds of women brought Bathukamma adorned with beautiful flowers and unique themes.
Bathukamma chair Ms. Prasanna Dongur organized best decorated Bathukamma competitions needless to say the organizers had tough time selecting the best Bathukamma. Women were seeing dancing to the mellifluous song of “Bathukamma Bathukamma Uyyalo” on the vast stage.
Later women took out a grand procession and immersed the Bathukammas in the nearby pond with in the Ranch. Jammi Pooja was organized and hundreds of volunteers thronged and carried the Devi Pallaki with “Jai Mata Di” procession.
Dasara Veshalu was organized for children by kicking-off the cultural programs. DATA Team strived for two months in planning to cover all aspects of facilities in this Mega Event.
DATA Team thanked all the people for continuing the tradition all these years and thanked the sponsors for being part of the biggest Bathukamma & Dasara festival in North America.
Many cultural proceedings went non-stop entertaining the crowd for over four hours.
The local participants captivated the people with their Telangana folk performances and Medleys. Happening musical singers Madhupriya, Rahul Sipligunj, Bhargavi Pillai, and Bikshu Naik mesmerized the audience with their foot-tapping numbers.
The audience kept asking for more and more. There were musical fireworks for the first time in the open arena alongside official “Telangana Rashtra Geetham” sung by Madhu Priya and the people thoroughly enjoyed the musical fireworks.
Many vendor booths were setup and participated in this Mega Event-DATA Bathukamma and Dasara Sambaralu with different cuisines including onsite food truck preparing food onsite. With the mystic renting the air, people were absolutely enthralled.
The event promised a perfect package of weather, programs and food. The crowd especially liked the innovative concept of "Ravan Dahan" happening first of it's kind in North America, many recalled their fond memories from Ram Leela maidan in New Delhi and Paradise grounds in Secunderabad.
