Danam Keeps High Command Guessing!

Danam Keeps High Command Guessing!

Senior Congress leader and Greater Hyderabad Congress Committee president Danam Nagender has been keeping the party high command on tenterhooks over the speculations that he would be jumping into the Telangana Rashtra Samithi sooner or later.

Though Nagender has been saying that he has no plans to defect to the TRS, the party leaders continue to view him with suspicion, as he goes out of touch quite often to closet with his followers.

On Thursday night, too, he went inaccessible to the party leaders and had a closed door meeting with his supporters to discuss the future course of action.

On Friday morning, his followers leaked to the media that Danam is going to join the TRS in the presence of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.

According to them, Danam had a lengthy discussion with former PCC chief and now TRS leader D Srinivas on Thursday night about joining the TRS.

The news was carried to the high command and immediately, AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh had a telephonic talk with Danam, who refuted the reports of his defection, as usual.

At one stage, there were reports that the high command had decided to disband the Greater Hyderabad Congress Committee completely.

However, his party leaders continue to hope that Danam would remain in the Congress. Party vice-president and MLC Mohd Shabbir Ali met Danam and arranged a phone call for him to speak to Congress leaders in Delhi.

He clarified that the GHCC president would not leave the party. He said Nagender had a division-wise meeting with party workers to strengthen the Congress party in the ensuing GHMC elections.
