Telugu Desam Party president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu and his son, TDP general secretary Nara Lokesh have realised that they would have to put in their best efforts at least from now, if they have to save their prestige by winning their respective assembly seats in the next elections.
For the last two days, Lokesh has been touring Mangalagiri assembly constituency, where he had lost to YSR Congress party candidate Alla Ramakrishna Reddy in the last assembly elections.
As if the assembly elections are round the corner, Lokesh has been going through lanes and bylanes of Mangalagiri, calling on the people, enquiring about their welfare and posing selfies with those who come to meet him.
The TDP leader also went from shop to shop, greeting the shopkeepers. He went to a cloth ironing shop and ironed a few clothes much to the delight of the shop owner. He interacted with school children and also old people whom he came across.
Lokesh spoke to the weavers’ community of Mangalagiri and demanded that the government should implement Netanna Nestham for all the weavers. He alleged that thousands of weavers were deprived of the scheme on the pretext of rules and regulations.
Lokesh also enquired about the problems being faced by the people from the authorities who are allegedly bringing pressure on them to opt for One-Time-Settlement (OTS) scheme for regularisation of their houses. He assured them that he would continue to fight for them.
On the other hand, the TDP president has also begun focussing on his Kuppam assembly constituency. He announced that he would construct an own house at Kuppam and live there for the maximum number of days a year, to take care of the constituency.
Naidu, who received a shock with the TDP receiving serious drubbing in the local body elections and municipal elections realised that if he doesn’t bother about Kuppam, he might not win the next elections from here.
He announced that he would overhaul the TDP in Kuppam, by weeding out the coverts who were hand in glove with the YSRCP leaders.
“Changes would be made in the party with importance for the young leadership. Those who were active in the past are now demoralised. They are not able to deliver goods by going into people,” he said.
He said he would hereafter tour every village in Kuppam constiteuncy and meet the people and the party cadre.
“I want all the party workers to be in touch with me directly and I will take care of their welfare,” he asserted.
