Andhra Pradesh High Court has given the green signal for a public meeting being proposed to be held in Hyderabad by YSR Congress Party on October 19.
The meeting, christened as "Samaikya Sankaravam", is meant to highlight the message to keep the state united. This will be the first public meeting by the YSRCP after the release of its president and Kadapa MP Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy from Chanchalguda central jail on bail.
After completing hearing the arguments from both sides - YSRCP and the city police, the court had posted the matter for Wednesday to give its verdict. It granted permission to the YSRCP to organize the meeting.
However, the court imposed certain conditions. It said the meeting should be held from 2 pm to 5 pm and the party should give a written undertaking that no provocative speeches would be made from the meeting venue.
It may be recalled that the city police had earlier denied permission for the meeting. The court permission has brought joy to the YSRCP cadre.
It will provide the first occasion for the party, since Jagan's release on bail, to mobilize its supporters from across the state. In view of the bail conditions, Jagan cannot move out of Hyderabad.
