Congress Seems To Have No Pre-Poll Plan

President’s Rule seems inevitable in the run-up to the 2014 elections.

Usually there is a lot of pre-poll activity within parties. However given the unique situation that our state is in currently, the Congress High Command is still undecided about its plan of action during the forthcoming elections.

Fearing repercussions over the appointment of a new chief minister, they are said to be in favour of imposing President’s Rule.

However, Congress leaders from both regions are said to be disappointed with this new decision. There is no clarity about TRS’ merger with the Congress party. Similarly, the Party has bleak chances in Seemandhra.

The Congress is also contemplating to appoint two chief ministers in both the regions to pacify its leaders. But it will be quite some time before the notification is issued. So, even though there is a care-taker government in place, its function has become nominal.

On the other side, the fact that Kiran Kumar Reddy is being continued in the CM’s post despite his submitting a formal resignation is being looked upon as a weak point. Already, the state ministers are holding farewell meetings with bureaucrats associated with their portfolios.

It remains to be seen for how long the Congress will defer taking action.
