It looks like the Congress party is digging its own grave by ignoring key sections. At a time when the Bharatiya Janata Party is racing ahead with its Hindutva agenda, the Congress should have given some sort of confidence to minorities by promoting them in key positions. But it chose to ignore them.
It was evident from the list of spokespersons released by Telangana PCC chief Ponnala Lakshmaiah on Friday.
Out of 17 spokespersons, there is not a single minority leader. The last nominations done for the Telangana PCC and denial of politically significant posts have already drawn widespread criticism from the Muslim community.
While former minister Mohammad Ali Shabbir was made Co-Chairman of Media Campaign Committee, no other Muslim leader was given any important post.
Ponnala is already facing the allegations of alleged discrimination against Muslim leaders and the new appointments of spokesperson is likely to strengthen the argument that the Congress party was not giving importance to the minority community.
