The Congress party had no intention to grant statehood to Telangana, but the political situation had compelled it to announce Telangana state.
This was the opinion expressed by Telangana Rashtra Samithi MLA K Taraka Rama Rao, who till the other day was praising the Congress party for granting Telangana.
He alleged that the Congress party has deceived the people for six decades. It was better to say that Congress was forced to announce Telangana, instead of telling that it had given Telangana state, he said.
He said the Telangana Congress leaders have no moral right to talk about Telangana state. Taking a dig at Telangana Congress leaders who are claiming that the party would win all the assembly seats as well as 17 Lok Sabha seats even if TRS failed to have alliance with their party, KTR questioned if that was their confidence, why they were talking about the TRS merger.
“Every state has a party to look after the welfare of the people. What is wrong in the existence of TRS for people’s welfare?” he asked and expressed the hope that whether his party will have alliance with Congress or not, people will ensure its victory. TRS is ready to have alliance with like-minded parties, the TRS leader said.
