The Telangana Congress party is very keen on forging alliances with the other like-minded parties like the Telugu Desam Party, Telangana Jana Samithi and CPI with the sole objective of defeating the Telangana Rashtra Samithi.
The Congress has already started negotiations with the three parties to discuss the alliance issues.
On Tuesday, representatives of all the three parties have met at Hotel Park Hyatt to strike a deal.
However, the Congress is not willing to concede many seats for the friendly parties, because if it wants to form the government on its own, it has to contest in good number of seats.
According to sources, the Congress party leadership has told the alliance partners that it has to contest in a minimum of 90 assembly constituencies, if it has to win the magic figure of 60 assembly seats.
It means, the Congress can offer just 29 seats to the allies. It has reportedly offered 20 seats to the TDP and two seats to the CPI. It means, the TJS has to be content with just six or seven seats.
However, the TDP is asking for at least 30 seats and it has also identified the seats where it has good strength and came in second position in 15 seats, apart from winning 15.
The TJS is also asking for 25 seats. And the CPI wants half a dozen seats.
So, what will be left for the Congress? Just 68 seats and so, it cannot expect to come to power at all.
Moreover, even in the seats given to the friendly parties, there is a stiff contest from the aspirants and if they don’t get tickets, they would play spoil sport with the chances of allies.
So, it will be na ghar ka na ghat ka situation for the Congress!
