The Congress party, which has miserably failed to get the Telangana Rashtra Samithi merged with it or at least have tie-up with it before the recent elections, has once again failed to make friendship with the TRS.
Some Congress leaders reportedly met TRS president and Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhara Rao and requested him to allocate Deputy Speaker post to one of its senior members.
It was learnt that the Congress reportedly sought deputy speaker post for its senior leader J Geetha Reddy. Besides, a couple of other names are doing rounds. However, the TRS leadership was reluctant to budge, sources said.
Reacting on the issue of leaving Deputy Speaker post to the Congress, senior leader K Jana Reddy opined that it will be good if the TRS government spare the Deputy Speaker post to them.
When asked, Jana Reddy candidly said the previous Congress regime denied the post to the Opposition party and the TRS Government might follow it. There may not be any chance the Congress could get that post, he said, adding that it is up to the CM to decide, he added.
