The Congress leadership is crying foul over defection of several leaders into other parties apparently realizing the Congress has no scope of returning to power either in State or in the Centre.
Taking a dig at the Congress leaders who are switching their loyalties and trying to float new party, Seemandhra leader Paladugu Venkat Rao on Wednesday dubbed the former as traitors. He appealed to the people to vote against these leaders for political instability and lack of moral values.
His remarks assume significance as Kiran Reddy is proposing to float a party, while former Ministers like TG Venkatesh, E Prathap Reddy, G Srinivas Rao are joining the TDP fold, while some others were joining the TRS and other parties.
He attributed their changing loyalties to sheer opportunism and selfish motives. What justice they can do for people, when at the helm of affairs they failed to do so, he asked. It is a sort of dangerous phenomenon to the nation and politics, he deplored.
They are just jumping to other parties for selfish gains and eying plum posts, he alleged. These leaders are on the wrong path and people should discourage them in the ensuing elections.
‘We the seniors are sticking to the party which was earlier challenged by TDP and now some other new parties’, Rao said.
When the high command has taken a decision on any big problem like Telangana or any other, it is for the leaders to stay put in, he observed. He said the leaders quitting the Congress amounts to cheating the people who will desist from voting them.
