Legislative Affairs Minister T Harish Rao on Tuesday advised the Congress to approach a court if it wishes to challenge the authority of Assembly Speaker in taking a decision on the fate of MLAs who defected to TRS.
Speaking in the Telangana State Legislative Assembly, Harish Rao said that the political parties can make representation to the Speaker, but cannot force him to take a decision on rebel MLAs.
He claimed that earlier the Supreme Court has refused to intervene over the jurisdiction Speaker in decision disqualification petitions.
He alleged that the Congress party has had the history of encouraging defections from Indira Gandhi to Manmohan Singh regime.
Harish Rao also alleged that Congress members were disrupting the proceedings of the House to avoid discussions on public issues.
