The Congress party on Wednesday withdrew from contest for the AP Legislative Council deputy chairman post and extended support to the Telugu Desam Party MLC Sathish Reddy, who is now is all set to grab the post unanimously.
Satish Reddy called on former APCC Chief Botsa Satyanarayana at his residence and sought his support to him.
Subsequently, Botsa rang up Congress leader Kantheti Satyanarayana Raju and asked him to withdraw his nomination. And Kanteti agreed to drop out. Botsa said that the Congress party was not willing to contest the election.
Ministers like Chinna Rajappa, Narayana and Kamineni Srinivas made a vain bid to get support from others to field Chaitanya Raju for deputy chairman post. Left with no other go, the TDP chief decided to rope in Sathish Reddy.
