Bapatla: Senior leader and ex-minister Gaade Venkatareddy expressed his anguish over the undemocratic ways that some forces were resorting to, to bifurcate the state.
“In my entire political life, I haven’t faced such a situation. Despite the T Bill being rejected in state Assembly, it is now being introduced in Parliament. This is undemocratic. People who are behind such a move will surely face the consequences in future,” warned an emotionally-charged Gaade.
Addressing a press meet in Bapatla, in Guntur district, Gaade said that a bill rejected by the Assembly cannot be introduced in the Parliament unless an amendment is made to the Constitution.
Also, there is no provision in the Constitution supporting a common capital, he pointed out.
The Centre was going ahead with the bifurcation process despite very few people actually wanting a separate Telangana, he said.
Gaade also revealed that all reports regarding bifurcation had clearly mentioned that Andhra Pradesh should remain united. He said that it was not fair to leave aside their recommendations and go ahead with the bifurcation process.
