Chiru to be next Andhra CM?

Though there are no hopes for the Congress party in the Seemandhra region once the State is bifurcated, there are still some leaders who are pinning hopes on becoming the Chief Minister of residuary Andhra Pradesh State.

One such leader is Megastar-turned-Union Minister for Tourism K Chiranjeevi. He is learnt to have indicated to the party leaders that he still favoured chances of becoming the Chief Minister in future.

His mind was reflected, surprisingly, in the statement of Congress MP from Karimnagar Ponnam Prabhakar.

Participating in a function at Vemulawada in Karimnagar district, Ponnam favoured Chiranjeevi to be chief minister of the residual Andhra Pradesh after bifurcation of the State.

Requesting Chiranjeevi to lend his cooperation to passage of the Telangana Bill in Parliament, Ponnam said the Telangana leaders would strongly lobby for making Chiranjeevi as the chief minister of residuary state of AP.

Reacting to it, Chiranjeevi was all smiles and described Ponnam as a “rebel star”. As a Union minister, he said, all States and regions in the country are equal to him.
