Chiranjeevi Tows The Line of High Command

Chiranjeevi Tows The Line of High Command

Union minister Chiranjeevi has once again towed the line of Congress High Command by opposing the no confidence motion moved against the UPA government.

Six Congress MPs had moved a no-confidence motion against the UPA government which has created quite a flutter.

But union minister Chiranjeevi and his coterie have chosen to oppose the move.

Though other union ministers from the state are yet to make any formal statements, Chiranjeevi has made an official announcement opposing it.

He reiterated his stand saying it was not appropriate to go against his own party.

Ex Praja Rajyam party member, minister Ramchandraiah also supported Chiranjeevi’s stance.

However, another minister from his group, Ganta Srinivasa Rao does not seem to hold a similar opinion.

Incidentally, both of them became ministers following Praja Rajyam’s merger with the Congress party in the state.

Similarly, other close aides of Chiranjeevi and Praja Rajyam MLAs who went on to become Congress MLAs do not seem to support Chiranjeevi’s stand.

On the other hand, they have not directly supported the no-confidence move either. One thing has become clear though. Chiranjeevi seems to be having trouble maintaining his coterie.

It is a known fact that Chiranjeevi had resigned demanding that Hyderabad be made a UT. But his resignation was not accepted.

Interestingly, he did not consider that move to be anti-establishment. But he seems to be quite clear that the no-confidence move is against the interests of the party.

For now, looks like he has chosen to fall in line with the High Command’s decision.
