Political and media circles are abuzz with rumours that megastar and Congress MP Chiranjeevi is all set to join the Telugu Desam Party.
According to these rumours, the muhurtam set for the megastar to join the TDP is November 9 at a simple function in Vijayawada.
Along with Chiranjeevi, his brother Naga Babu may also join the TDP. Though another mega brother Pavan Kalyan continues to operate his own Jana Sena Party, he might also help the TDP-BJP combine albeit indirectly, say sources.
Apparently, Chiranjeevi has realised that there is no future in the Congress party in Andhra Pradesh and as such, there is no point in continuing there. However, he still has two more years to go as an MP in the Congress.
The deal for joining the TDP is that he would be re-nominated to Rajya Sabha after two years and if everything goes well, he might even be inducted into the Modi cabinet.
It is learnt there is a lot of pressure from the Apollo Group on Chiranjeevi to join the TDP, as the group has a lot of business stakes in AP. Since he does not have any other option, the mega star has agreed to join the ruling party, say sources.
