Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu might have declared before public that the total value of his assets was only Rs 67 lakh as on October 19, 2016, but the actual value of his assets is at least 265 times more than that!
According to a survey conducted by India Today based on the affidavits submitted by the chief ministers during the elections, Naidu is the richest chief minister in the country with assets worth Rs 177 crore. In a way, Naidu surpassed late Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa in the value of assets.
This is really shock to many, as most often Naidu says he doesn’t even sport a watch or keep a wallet in his pocket.
What is more interesting is that there is a huge gap between Naidu and the chief minister in No. 2 position in the rich CMs’ list.
While Naidu is No. 1 with the value of assets pegged at Rs 177 crore, Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Pema Khandu is in No. 2 position with Rs 129 crore – poorer than Naidu by at least Rs 50 crore.
Interestingly Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is the fifth richest chief minister in the country but has assets worth only Rs 15 crore, which is nearly 12 times less than Naidu.
Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh is third richest CM with Rs 48 crore and Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh is in fourth position with Rs 34 crore worth of assets.
Tripura chief minister Manik Sarkar is the poorest with his personal assets standing at Rs 26 lakh. Other chief ministers who figure in the list are: UP's Yogi Adityanadh (Rs 72 lakh), Jharkhand's Raghubar Das (Rs 72 lakh), Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar (Rs 61 lakh) and J&K Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti (Rs 55 lakh).
Also, the crime-o-meter survey revealed some interesting facts about our CMs. It was listed based on number of pending cases (as per the affidavits submitted to EC), wherein Maharashtra CM Devendar Fadnavis topped it with 22 cases and Haryana CM Khattar with just 1 case pending.
While three cases are pending against Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, KCR is booked in two cases.
