The Centre is understood to have decided not to pamper the Seemandhra MPs, but to act tough with them while going ahead with the Telangana statehood process.
Apparently at the behest of the Congress high command, Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar is understood to have sent a communique to Seemandhra MPs on Monday, asking them to appear in person in connection with the resignations that they had submitted in protest against bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.
According to reports from New Delhi, the Lok Sabha MPs who received the letter from the Lok Sabha Secretariat are: Rayapati Sambasiva Rao, K Bapiraju, Magunta Srinivasa Reddy, G V Harsh Kumar (all Congress), K Narayana Rao (TDP) and Kadapa MP Y SJaganmohan Reddy (YSR Congress party). They all had submitted their resignations in Speaker’s format and they have now been asked to appear in person.
Some more MPs are also likely to get the notices shortly. It may be mentioned that Congress MP from Vijayawada Lagadapati Rajagopal had approached the Delhi Court seeking its intervention in acceptance of his resignation. This case is posted for hearing on October 22.
The Centre is of the view that they would create nuisance in Parliament when the Telangana Bill is introduced and hence, it is better to get rid of them, as the government would not collapse even if their resignations are accepted.
