Centre Not Keen On Guntur As Capital?

If the reports from New Delhi are to be believed, the Centre is not very keen on deciding Guntur-Vijayawada region as the capital of new Andhra Pradesh State.

According to these reports, the experts committee headed by Sivaramakrishnan reportedly expressed surprise over Naidu’s preference to Guntur as the new capital, as a lot of issues have be sorted out before deciding the capital.

The committee members reportedly expressed view that there were a lot of concerns over Guntur as the capital, such as availability of land, scope for expansion and creation of infrastructure.

“We cannot go by the people’s or leaders’ emotions,” sources quoting official said.

The committee is said to be preferring Visakhapatnam, which as all the infrastructure facilities.

“Though it is a little far flung city, it has all the facilities. However, we have to take into consideration the views of the government as well,” sources said.
