Center Should Act Firmly!

KCR absolutely refuses to recognize the section 8 of the AP Reorganization Act that has entrusted the Governor with sole jurisdiction over law and order in Hyderabad, for a period of ten years.

When this issue was brought up at the meeting of the Cabinet Secretaries of AP and Telangana, the latter refused any discussion on the issue. It is this Janus-faced approach of the TRS that is annoying.

When it comes to sharing of electricity, KCR quotes the Act but chooses to ignore it whenever inconvenient to him. When a city is the common capital for two States for a certain period, how can law and order be the exclusive prerogative of one State only? Hence, entrusting this responsibility to the Governor makes sense!

Besides, the past record of KCR is not at all confidence inducing. Seemandhra people will find it difficult to submit to a sense of justice and fair play from KCR. The NDA has to date not done anything for AP.

On this issue at least, it should act firmly and veto KCR’s unreasonable opposition. After all, it is only for a period of ten years and nine months have already elapsed.

After that, it will not matter to Andhra people whether it is the Governor, KCR, Kavitha or Harish Rao in charge of law and order in Hyderabad.
