Center Cannot Wash Its Hands Off The Issue

A Central Minister close to Andhra Pradesh has said off-the-record that the Union government has absolutely no intention of intervening in the Section 8 dispute and wants the respective governments of Telangana and AP to sort out the issue themselves. This is a very sad response by the Center to the issue.

How on earth can Telangana and AP ever arrive at a consensus on this issue?

Besides, the details pertaining to section 8 can easily be interpreted by the ‘attorney General of India’. All the Center needs to do is take the advice of the ‘Attorney General’ and proceed according to the rule book.

Of course, any decision taken will aggrieve one side or the other. But that’s what rules are there for and you play by them. Threats of agitations and other blackmailing tactics should be firmly dealt with if they come in the way of implementing the law.

The Center cannot simply wash its hands off such an important issue.
