After a series of flip-flops on the Telangana statehood issue, the Telugu Desam Party chief N Chandrababu Naidu now wants his party cadre to focus on the coming general elections and work sincerely to ensure the party's success.
While evading the on the burning issue of Telangana in his usual style, Naidu told a party gathering that they need to pull up their socks and get ready to face the elections. He was addressing a brain-storming session of the party at NTR Bhavan in Hyderabad on Friday.
"There is not much time left for the general elections, They are approaching fast. The election notification is likely to come in the first week of March and elections will be held in April. All of you must go to people and work in the field to ensure our success," Naidu said.
However, on Telangana issue, he repeated his usual allegation that the ruling Congress has brought up the bifurcation issue only to gain "votes and seats" in the elections.

"The people are fed up with the Congress' misrule. They came to power making false promises. The miseries of the common man have increased. There is a virtual collapse of the administration and corruption has gone up by leaps and bounds. The prices of essential commodities have become beyond the reach of the common man," the TDP chief said.
Attacking the Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, he said that the CM was signing only those files that fetch him bribes.
