Cash-For-Vote Scam: Naidu Should Quit

Hyderabad: Demanding the resignation of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and prove his innocence in the cash for vote case, YSR Congress warned him to refrain from whipping regional passions.

“Ever since the scam broke out, Chandrababu Naidu did not condemn it nor did he categorically state that the voice recorded in the phone was not his, instead he has been giving inflammatory speeches and whipping regional passions. Instead he should quit and prove his innocence by facing an inquiry, “Party leader Botsa Satyanarayana told reporters here on Tuesday.

While a minister was arrested in Delhi and NTR had suspended his cabinet colleague on charges of corruption, Chandrababu Naidu, who did not deny his role in the vote for cash, has been speaking in a tone that would pit people of one region against the other.

“We demand that he quit his post on moral grounds and come out clean in the investigation instead of giving speeches to eke out political and personal gains. The phone tapping issue can be taken up at the appropriate level for a contest but he did not deny that the voice recorded was his own nor anyone from his Party has condemned the conduct of Revanth Reddy. Even the name of the Governor is being dragged into the issue showing scant respect for the protocol,” he said.

Chandrababu’s electoral ally BJP has distanced itself from the episode which shows the gravity of the charges and the TDP leader is resorting to self-boasting and bravado despite being boxed from all sides, legally.

YSR Congress has been voicing the feelings of the people and in reply the Chief Minister has been speaking incoherently instead of quitting the office to prove that he is not guilty of the charges. We demand that he should resign immediately and agree for an inquiry which would bring out the facts, he said.

Though he did not honour a single election promise, Chandrababu Naidu wants to carry his shame by the people of State for his personal and political gains, he said.
