Can Outdated Celebrities Save Cong?

The Congress party is now trying to play politics by roping in outdated celebrities – not one, but many. It is planning to make celebrities who once ruled the film and sports fields as in-charge of the states and entrusting them with the responsibility of reviving the party in those states.

The party which received serious drubbing in the 2014 elections is banking on these celebrities to get back to his glory.

While Raj Babbar has been given the reins of the Congress party in Uttar Pradesh, popular heroine Khushboo is all set to head the party in Tamil Nadu.

There are reports that former Indian cricket captain Md Azharuddin and glamorous actress of yesteryears Vijayashanti are the front runners for the PCC chief post in Telangana.

In Andhra Pradesh, megastar Chiranjeevi is most likely to take over as the next PCC chief.

Now, these outdated actors and sports persons are supposed to be the crowd-pullers for the Congress party in their respective states. Though Chiranjeevi and Khushboo still command respect in their states as actors, they do not have much face value as politicians.

And Raj Babbar, though old timer in politics, has earned the name of a turncoat and lost miserably in the last Lok Sabha elections.

While Azhar is still a non-serious politician, Vijayashanti has lost her charisma as well as political ground in Telangana. How can they revive the beleaguered Congress party?
