While everyone is talking of how heinous the Call Money Sex Racket is and how the culprits need to be given exemplary punishment, one of the chief accused in the case, Electrical Divisional Engineer Satyanandam, quietly secured anticipatory bail from High Court.
With a powerful and well-connected (remember his pics animated and engaged talks with Chandrababu and Intel DIG) person like Satyanandam out on bail, one can very well imagine what will become of the investigation into the racket.
Do not be surprised if other racketeers too secure bail similarly and move about freely. While the court may have sufficient grounds for granting anticipatory bail to the accused, it is anybody's guess what he would do and how he and his accomplices in the racket would cajole, threaten and force the complainants into submission.
As for Satyanandam, not many know that he was to be given TDP ticket in 2014 elections. There are pics of him seeking TDP chief Chandrababu's blessings.
One wonders what became of TDP chief Chandrababu's initial promise that the Call Money racketeers would be booked under stringent Nirbhaya Act.
So far not one of the accused is booked under NIrbhaya Act, which means most of them will walk free and the complainants will have tough time from them. Already Call Money Racket is slowly disappearing from the radar of public discourse.
Chandrababu and his cohorts used the Assembly to successfully divert the issue by suspending YSRCP MLA Roja for an year.
The YSRCP is now busy seeking tapes of Assembly proceedings, while the administration is slowly bringing ordinary money lenders into the ambit of the case so that the issue gets further diluted.
For the TDP, Satyanandam's bail is the first step to further dilution of the case. Expect more accused to secure bail and be ready to witness further delays in the investigation.
Wait for a day when some innocent small-time lender gets the whiplashes while the biggies watch the blue films they made out of hapless women's helplessness.
