Cabinet Reshuffle: Tension In TDP

It is more or less confirmed that Telugu Desam Party president and AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is going to expand and reshuffle his Cabinet sooner or later.

Ever since he declared that he would induct a Muslim into his Cabinet in the expansion to be done shortly, the aspirants for ministerial berths in the TDP have become more anxious.

According to party sources, the Cabinet reshuffle this time would be extensive as Naidu would take into consideration various factors – caste, gender, district, performance of existing ministers and aspirants, loyalty, promises given to the MLAs who had defected from YSR Congress party and of course, financial strength.

Among the aspirants for Cabinet berths are: Payyavula Kesavn, S Chandramohan Reddy, Dhulipalla Narendra, Kondababu, Bandaru Satyanarayana Murthy. Sandhya Rani, Kala Venkat Rao, Gouthu Sivaji, Shariff and Nakka Anand Babu, besides defectors like Bhuma Nagi Reddy, Jaleel Khan and Jyothula Nehru.

Some of the sitting ministers like Palle Raghunath Reddy, Bojjala Gopalakrishna Reddy, Ravela Kishore Babu, P Pulla Rao, Devineni Umamaheshwar Rao, Pitala Sujatha, Mrinalini and Ganta Srinivas Rao might be shown the door.

Some of them might be retained, but their portfolios would be changed. Naidu is also upset with leaders like Devineni, Sujatha and Achen Naidu for not maintaining good relationship with local MPs and other MLAs of their respective districts, party sources said.
