A rumor is circulating in political circles that Revanth Reddy is facing the anger of his own party members, who are allegedly planning a coup due to his actions involving their properties through HYDRAA.
An insider reported that private meetings are taking place where party leaders are pretending to support Revanth's decisions but are secretly working to dethrone him.
Many Congress leaders own properties in FTL and buffer zones of various lakes, and they are not willing to sacrifice these to HYDRAA bulldozers.
According to hearsay, Revanth Reddy is aware of these feelings among his party members. There is also speculation that he wants them to sacrifice their illegal constructions in exchange for compensation through large legal projects. However, sources say his party members are not inclined to trust his promises.
Facing backlash from his own party, Revanth Reddy is reportedly deciding to slow down HYDRAA's activities by restricting them to only on the newly emerging real estate projects in FTL and buffer zones.
Rumors suggest he has instructed HYDRAA not to demolish anything or issue any notices without informing him first.
Notable properties in the FTL and buffer zones include a farmhouse belonging to Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and his family at Himayatsagar Lake, and a farmhouse owned by V6 Channel owner Vivek in the same area.
Revanth Reddy seems to be rethinking his plans, as targeting these properties could jeopardize his position as Chief Minister.
Critics on the other hand argue that although Revanth Reddy publicly claims that no one will be spared, he is, in fact, protecting the properties of his party members. Initially, HYDRAA gained public attention positively, but some critics now claim it is being diluted and diverted.
The government stated in court that there are about 1 lakh illegal buildings in Hyderabad, but notices are only being issued to a select few. The High Court has questioned HYDRAA on this matter.
"It appears that HYDRAA may have been set up to target the properties of opposition leaders", High Court made a key comment.
The High Court questioned why no action was taken against GHMC officials who had permitted constructions in the FTL and buffer zones. It also asked the government’s special pleader why structures built 10-20 years ago are being targeted now.
The High Court has made strong comments on the demolitions carried out by HYDRAA, which was ambitiously launched by the Congress government. A petition was filed in the High Court challenging the notices issued by HYDRAA to certain structures in the Kavuri Hills Colony within the Durgam Cheruvu FTL.
Justice Vijaysen Reddy, who reviewed the case, questioned the selective issuance of notices and expressed surprise that Inorbit Mall and Raheja Towers, which are under the same FTL, were not issued notices.
With over a lakh of unauthorized constructions in Hyderabad, the High Court asked why notices were not issued to all of them and on what basis notices were being issued.
The judge also questioned why only structures belonging to the BRS party were targeted.
It seems that Revanth Reddy urgently needs to streamline the mission of HYDRAA in a more acceptable manner to demonstrate his unbiased approach while safeguarding his position.
