The area woke up to disturbing news of some miscreants burning down crops and hay stacks in some villages in capital zone of Andhra Pradesh.
Now, the incident has acquired political colour with all parties trying to make the most of the situation.
While some farmers and the YSRCP leaders supporting them are blaming Babu and his wily brigade for the incident, the TDP leaders have started making counter allegations.
Ex minister and YSCRP leader Parthasarathy severely condemned the act and alleged the ruling Telugu Desam Party of stooping down to the level of burning crops and farms when the farmers refused to give their land for land pooling. Is this what you do when people believed in you and voted for your party, he asked.
Meanwhile, Minister Ravela Kishore said that YSRCP calling TDP names was like a thief calling others a thief. He also hinted that there could have been YSRCP’s hand behind the incident.
He assured the affected farmers that his government would take quick and stringent measures to catch the culprits and punish them. Ravela also promised that his party would stand by the farmers who lost property in the incident.
But it is rather sad that both the ruling party and the opposition party are more concerned about hitting out at each other than helping out those affected in the incident.
The incident while being unfortunate has also resulted in many questions being raised. Instead of acting swiftly and ensuring that the culprits are held, the ruling party seems to be more interested in making counter allegations. It is indeed amusing and sad.
