Fearing the public wrath, the PCC Chief Botsa Satyanarayana has confined himself to his home in Vizianagaram which has emerged as the Ground Zero of the anti-bifurcation protests.
Clearly, Botsa has emerged as the main villain in the Telangana drama and the people in his home town have directed their anger against him.
For several weeks, the north coastal Andhra town has been witnessing mob violence directed against the properties of Botsa and his family members.
The enraged people of Vizianagaram feel that Botsa, despite heading the party unit in the state, had failed to prevent the division. In fact, many people feel that he had played a selfish political game resulting in the bifurcation.
It is more than two months since the PCC chief visited his native place. And, when he finally landed in Vizianagaram to spend time with his family members for Dasara festival, he could not muster enough courage to make public appearance.
The public anger is palpable in the air and there is no way Botsa can escape their wrath if he is seen in public. He confined himself to his home and did not take part in any public functions. Soon after he came to his hometown, Botsa held close door meetings with his aides.
Curfew was clamped in Vizianagaram on October 5 following large-scale violence by the agitators. Though curfew has been relaxed now, the situation is yet to return to normalcy. The prohibitory orders under section 144 of CrPC are still in force.
