It is not even 24 hours since the results for Lok Sabha and State Assembly have been declared; the Telangana Congress leaders have already begun the blame game.
Former Nizamabad MP Madhu Yaskhi Goud alleged that Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president Ponnala Lakshmaiah was primarily responsible for the party's debacle in the region.
Yaskhi said that the Congress party did not carry out organised or centralised campaign in the region. Since all the top leaders were contesting the elections, they confined themselves to their own constituencies. He alleged that there was no coordination between the top leaders with the local cadre which damaged the party's prospects.
Madhu Yaskhi said that the Congress needs to do a serious introspection of what went wrong in the elections and take corrective steps. However, he said Ponnala should own the responsibility of party's defeat in Telangana.
Similarly, senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member Palwai Goverdhan Reddy also blamed it on Ponnala for his failure to lead the party to victory in the elections. Alleging that Ponnala had sold out tickets, he sought to know how a person who cannot even win his seat could make the party win in the elections.
