Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu has come under fire for inducting four YSR Congress party MLAs into his cabinet as part of expansion on Sunday.
The four MLAs – Sujaya Venkata Krishna Ranga Rao (Bobbili), N Amarnath Reddy (Punganur), Bhuma Akhila Priya (Allagadda) and Ch Adinarayana Reddy (Jammalamadugu) – have been facing a case in the court over their disqualification for defecting to the TDP. Naturally, the YSR Congress party has decided to expose Naidu’s double standards.
Describing it as a black day in the history of Andhra Pradesh, YSR Congress party president and Leader of Opposition Y S Jaganmohan Reddy in a stamen said Naidu had brought disgrace to the state and the Constitution of India.
“The four MLAs, along with others, had blatantly violated the anti-defection law and were sold out to the ruling party. And Naidu, with the support of assembly speaker, endorsed this violation of Constitution by taking the four defectors into the cabinet,” he alleged.
Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president N Raghuveera Reddy said Naidu had lost all his moral values in ruling the state.
“How can Naidu justify now his comments which he had made against KCR in the past for inducting a defected TDP MLA into cabinet? It is unfortunate that the Governor, who is supposed to safeguard the Constitution remained a mute spectator,” Reddy asked.
