BJP tries to corner Cong on bifurcation

Bharatiya Janata Party is trying to take advantage of the divided opinion within the Congress party over the State bifurcation issue and gain the maximum mileage in the State, where it has little chances.

Obviously, it wants to utilize whatever little chance it has to deny any advantage to the Congress in the Telangana region.

While reiterating its commitment to support the formation of Telangana state with 10 districts and Hyderabad as its capital, the State BJP on Thursday wrote a letter to Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde demanding that the Centre address the concerns of the Seemandhra people on various issues such as water sharing, safety and security during bifurcation.

Party president G Kishan Reddy alleged that the Congress party was behaving like a private limited company and treating the division as a private issue.

He said in the letter that without Congress and the Central government making any such commitment on the timeline and on the issues involved in the bifurcation process, asking for BJP’s feedback had no meaning.

He urged the government to come up with a comprehensive development plan for all round development of both the States of Seemandhra and Telangana.

The party demanded the Centre to introduce the Telangana bill in the winter session of Parliament.

“Telangana is not possible without the support of BJP and it is possible only with us,” said Kishan Reddy, adding that there was no need to give reply to the GoM when the Congress party failed to disclose its stand.
