The Telugu Desam Party is once again getting ready to re-enact the high drama of moving the no-confidence motion against the Narendra Modi government at the Centre for failing to implement the promises made in AP Reorganisation Act, including special category status to Andhra Pradesh.
The TDP Parliamentary Party on Tuesday decided to serve the notice on Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan seeking to move no-confidence motion against the Narendra Modi government on Wednesday, when the monsoon session of the Parliament commences.
Accordingly, TDP MP from Vijayawada Kesineni Srinivas issued the notice to the Speaker’s office.
The TDP MPs know that even if it can mobilise the entire opposition, it cannot win the no-trust motion against the Modi government, as the NDA has more than the required numbers to defeat it.
“We know we can’t pull down the Modi government. But, our objective is to highlight the injustice meted out to Andhra Pradesh,” Nani said.
During the budget session, the BJP stalled the introduction of no-confidence motion in the House by provoking its ally AIADMK to create ruckus on Cauvery Board issue.
Initially, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi also joined the ruckus for a few days, but later kept quiet. Consequently, the notices for no-trust motion found their way into the dustbin.
This time, however, the BJP leadership is learnt to have decided to allow the opposition party to introduce the no-confidence motion and face the discussion.
Modi reportedly asked his ministers to be ready with all the answers to counter the TDP’s allegations of injustice to AP.
He, himself, would explain how the Centre has been doing more than what is required to bail out AP from the crisis.
Thus, the BJP wants to take into public how the TDP is making false allegations against the Centre just to gain political mileage.
Let us wait and see which party will have the upper hand in this drama!
