BJP Puts TDP and YSRCP In A Tight Spot

A strange situation has emerged in Andhra Pradesh. Usually, if the ruling party at the Centre increases prices of everyday commodities, then the local parties immediately stage dharnas and shout slogans condemning the arbitrary hike.

But when the BJP government hiked the railway prices like never before, neither TDP nor YSRCP made any noise.

While TDP had a poll alliance with BJP, YSRCP had announced that it would provide issue-based support to BJP. However, YS Jagan did make one statement against the price hike and let the matter end there without taking up the issue of the shocking 14.2% hike any further.

The main opposition party Congress too has remained silent as they don’t have even one single representative in the AP Assembly. Also, most of its members are busy planning defections, so they found little time to raise their voice against the price rise.

That leaves the Communist parties, which promptly organized some demonstrations against the hike. Barring that none of the parties have raised any hue and cry against BJP’s decision.

Indeed, AP is caught up in a strange situation.
