Ever since YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and extended his party’s support to the Bharatiya Janata Party in the Presidential elections, the political atmosphere in Andhra Pradesh has hot up.
More than the YSR Congress party leaders, it is the BJP leaders who are in the forefront in defending Jagan’s meeting with Modi.
Apart from newly-joined BJP leaders like Kavuri Sambasiva Rao, Kanna Lakshminarayana and Daggubati Purandeshwari, who have been anti-Chandrababu Naidu right from the beginning, other BJP leaders, too, have started attacking the TDP leaders for questioning Modi’s decision to give appointment to Jagan.
BJP floor leader in the state assembly B Vishnu Kumar Raju wondered whether the TDP leaders were expecting Modi to take the permission of Naidu before giving appointment to Jagan.
“If they feel so, they are thoroughly mistaken. It doesn’t happen even in wildest of their dreams. Modi will take decisions on his own and he doesn’t need Chandrababu’s advice,” he said.
Raju pointed out that Jagan was a man of masses.
“He has the support of more than 50 per cent of the people in the state. He has every right to meet the Prime Minister. How can the TDP leaders say that Modi would deny appointment to him?” the BJP leader asked.
