BJP Overestimating Pawan Factor?

The Bharatiya Janata Party leadership at the Centre is said to be more worried about the impact of power star and Jana Sena party president Pawan Kalyan's movement for special category status than YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy's agitation.

According to BJP sources, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who had deliberations with the Andhra BJP leaders a couple of days ago, is learnt to have enquired about Pawan Kalyan’s Kakinada meeting and its fallout, rather than the bandh call given by Jagan and his party’s aggressive approach in the state assembly.

Even union ministers M Venkaiah Naidu, Bandaru Dattatreya, Prakash Javadekar and Siddharthnath Singh, who addressed a series of press conferences in the last three days, took offensive against Pawan Kalyan and his comments at the Kakinada meeting, comparing the special package with rotten laddus.

Singh went to the extent of describing Pawan Kalyan’s Jana Sena as the third rotten laddu, the other two being the Congress and the YSR Congress.

Analysts say the Centre is overestimating the capabilities of Pawan, though the BJP has little stake in Andhra politics. On the other hand, TDP president and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu is more worried about Jagan, rather than Pawan, since he knows the ground realities.

May be by over-projecting Pawan factor,  the TDP and the BJP are trying to neutralise the Jagan factor, the analysts say.
