The BJP Lok Sabha member from Adilabad, Soyam Bapu Rao's recent political moves are reportedly giving jitters to the Telangana BJP leadership.
Speculations are rife in BJP circles that Soyam Bapu Rao is in touch with TPCC chief A. Revanth Reddy and is likely to defect to Congress at any time.
It is learnt that Soyam Bapu Rao secretly met Revanth Reddy and even invited him to his son's wedding, which is to be held on May 21 in Adilabad. Revanth too reportedly assured that he would attend the wedding without fail.
Soyam Bapu Rao was in Congress, and he joined BJP ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha polls. He sprang a surprise by defeating BRS in the Adilabad Lok Sabha constituency.
However, of late, Soyam Bapu Rao is reportedly upset with the BJP leadership over neglecting him. He is angry that the party leadership was only encouraging the other three BJP MPs from Telangana, namely G. Kishan Reddy, who was made a union minister, Bandi Sanjay, who was made Telangana BJP president, and Dharmapuri Aravind.
The surveys commissioned by Bapu Rao reportedly indicated that there was no scope for BJP to win the Adilabad Lok Sabha seat this time, and only Congress could give a tough fight to BRS in Adilabad.
Bapu Rao is already undertaking padayatras in the district, reaching out to his supporters and people, and preparing the ground to contest Lok Sabha elections from Adilabad as a Congress candidate.
Bapu Rao's 'ghar wapsi' to Congress is expected to give a big jolt to BJP in Telangana at a time when BJP is projecting itself as a strong alternative to BRS.
