Ever since the ugly cash-for-vote scam involving Telugu Desam Party legislator A Revanth Reddy surfaced, Bharatiya Janata Party leaders in Telangana are said to be keeping away from the Telangana TDP leaders.
According to sources, the Telangana BJP leaders are learnt to have sent a report to their party bosses in Delhi stating that the Revanth Reddy episode had brought disgrace to the TDP-BJP alliance in the State and it would definitely bring bad name to the BJP as well.
The Central leadership reportedly told the State BJP leaders to keep away from the controversy and not to defend the TDP, if not support it.
Sources said the BJP legislators deliberately chose NOTA option for the second preferential position, knowing fully well that their votes would become invalid. In any case, they were aware that the TDP candidate would lose.
They are now saying that the BJP would have won the seat, had the TDP allocated the same to the alliance partner. In such an event, the TRS would not have fielded the fifth candidate, they say.
The Revanth episode would definitely cast the shadow on TDP-BJP alliance in the coming days and the BJP might eventually break up the alliance, sources said.
