Ever since former minister Kanna Lakshminarayana became the president of Andhra Pradesh unit of Bharatiya Janata Party, the Telugu Desam Party leaders and cadre are growing impatient.
Unlike his predecessor Kambhampati Hari Babu who had a soft corner towards the TDP and its president N Chandrababu Naidu, the new BJP president has been extensively touring different parts of the state calling Naidu’s bluff on lack of central assistance.
It is a different matter whether the people are believing the BJP leaders or not, but it is definitely creating a lot of unrest in the TDP.
That is why the TDP leaders are trying to create hurdles in the meetings of Kanna wherever he is going.
On Wednesday, the state BJP president visited Kavali in Nellore district to address the party workers and asked them to expose the false propaganda of the TDP.
His meeting was marred by the dharna by some TDP workers, who hurled chappals at Kanna, leading to a tense situation.
The BJP workers caught up the TDP workers and thrashed them before handing them to the police.
Kanna alleged that the BJP would not keep quiet if the TDP resorts to intimidating and assaulting of the BJP workers. “We shall give a fitting counter to the TDP attacks,” he warned.
Apparently, the BJP leaders are trying to project that all is not well with the law and order in the state.
If such attacks are on the rise, the BJP might not even hesitate to call for imposition of President’s Rule in the state and take control of the state administration.
