Former minister and senior Congress leader K Jana Reddy, who was terribly upset for not being considered any post in the Telangana State Congress and its election committee leave alone the PCC chief post, is understood to have got a strong assurance from party president Sonia and her son Rahul Gandhi.
Jana met Sonia on Wednesday evening and Rahul on Thursday morning and is returning to Hyderabad on a happy note.
According to sources, the Congress high command promised to take care of Jana’s interests till the elections and if the Congress comes to power in the Telangana State, he would be the first choice for the Chief Minister post.
When Jana Reddy brought to the notice of Sonia about the campaign for making a Dalit as the Chief Minister, Sonia reportedly told him that there was no official announcement from her to that effect.
Obviously, she cannot ignore the powerful Reddy community and its contribution to the party. She convinced him that the selection of Ponnala for the top post is to retain the BC voters with the party, sources said.
