The BJP is strongly convinced that Rayalaseema is fertile ground for it to strengthen itself at the expense of YSRCP.
The top brass has come to the conclusion that since the TDP is the ruling party, defections would be difficult to engineer and that Rayalaseema, which is a Reddy stronghold has a large contingent of YSRCP personnel, disgruntled with Jagan’s style of functioning.
Under instructions from general secretary, Ram Madhav, the BJP has prepared a report on drought in Rayalaseema. Using this report, the Party intends to not only lure YSRCP and a large number of big shot politicians into its fold; it also wants to put the TDP on the back foot.
Jagan because of the pending cases against him might not want to speak out against the BJP at this juncture. Hence, he can only remain a silent spectator to the acts of the BJP in Rayalaseema.
The advantage that Jagan has and which the BJP lacks is charisma. People of Rayalaseema would obviously identify more with Jagan than Naidu or Modi. It is this factor that can help Jagan retain his legislators.
