Thanks to the Seemandhra politicians, KCR realized his dream of becoming a Chief Minister which was otherwise an impossible task for him in United Andhra Pradesh.
And flush with electoral success and in the dizzy moments of having experienced the pinnacle of power, KCR went about announcing fanciful projects including the likes of a world class film city at Rachakonda on 30,000 acres of land.
Apart from undertaking an aerial survey of the area, he also directed the collectors of Ranga Reddy and Nalgonda to submit reports on the available land.
He also ordered connecting roads to be built from Rachakonda to Shamshabad airport, Sagar and Vijayawada airports. But the reports submitted by the collectors have come as a setback to KCR’s plans.
Apparently, of the land proposed for the film city, 13000 acres have already been allotted to Central firm ‘BDL’. 9000 acres is under forest department. Of the remaining 8000 acres, a majority is assigned land and the rest is ‘patta land’.
Crossing all these hurdles and constructing a film city at Rachakonda is not an easy task, it appears. Maybe the farmers committing suicides daily in Telangana would change their minds once the film city comes up.
