Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (APERC) Chairman, Venkata Ramani Bhaskar has paid the price for taking on Chandrababu Naidu.
He has been replaced last week by former High Court Judge, Bhavani Prasad thereby cutting Bhaskar’s tenure from five years to two years only.
What was Bhaskar’s fault? He vetoed the AP Government’s decision to cancel the ‘Power Purchase Agreements’ (PPA).
Chandrababu became so angry at this that his BP Machine shattered into pieces. Since then, Bhaskar was a marked man. For the record, Bhaskar was appointed by Kiran Kumar Reddy. He has now written to the Union Power Ministry complaining that as per law he could not be removed from office unless there was a specific reason.
In the meantime, Bhavani Prasad has assumed office.
