At the forefront of the Telangana agitation, Prof. Kodandaram has been completely sidelined by KCR after the formation of the Telangana state.
The lull in political activity however seems to have made Kodandaram a bit senile. He has once again brought up the issue of farmers’ suicides and loan waiver.
Kodandaram exhorted the TRS government to fight with the bankers and see to it that fresh loans are issued to farmers.
He also questioned as to why the Central government is silent when hundreds of farmers are committing suicide in Telangana.
The loan waiver runs into thousands of crores. The farmers have stopped payment of the loan because the government has promised to pay it on their behalf. So, the smooth ‘cash flow’ of the banks is severely affected. On top of that the government and Kodandaram want fresh loans to be disbursed to the farmers.
Is it a bank or a KCR family-owned grocery shop? Then comes Kodandaram’s accusation that the Centre is being silent while farmers are committing suicides in Telangana.
Was it not Kodandaram in cahoots with KCR who were at the forefront of the T-agitation who said that the problems of Telangana would be solved once a separate Telangana is created?
KCR said that Telangana would become self -sufficient in ‘power generation’ within two months of the new State being created. Now he is saying a couple more years at the least or either blaming Andhra for all of their woes created due to their own administrative inefficiency.
Why are you holding the Center responsible, Kodandaram when it is KCR who should be questioned? Probably, the plight of the farmers in Telangana was never so miserable even under the Nizam’s rule.
