On extremely important issues concerning the state, Chandrababu Naidu has no habit of listening to expert advice.
For example, regarding the new capital, of his own accord he appointed the Sivaramakrishnan committee. What did the committee recommend? “Get the feck off from Vijayawada!” did Naidu listen to them? No, for he knew from the very beginning where the capital was going to be.
And now, he has earmarked 460 acres for a mega food park at Thotapalli village in Krishna district. A GO has also been issued to this effect.
But none other than the AP Chambers of Commerce and Industry is finding fault with Naidu’s decision.
Addressing the media on Saturday, Mr. Murali Krishna, President-elect of AP Chambers of Commerce and Industry said the government had promptly framed the Food Processing Policy in July last year and the rules thereof a few months later, but it did not pay heed to the suggestions that the chosen parcel of land was not suitable for development of any industry.
There are good places like Mallavalli (Bapulapadu mandal) and Veerapanenigudem (Gannavaram) but they were ignored, he said, contending that levelling of the land and creation of plug-and-play infrastructure by the master developer would take not less than two years.
More precious time was bound to be lost in getting prospective entrepreneurs to actually set up their units. In the course of time, investors would scout for better alternatives avenues, he observed.
Well said sir, but given the track record of Mr. Naidu, it is highly unlikely that he would reverse his decision.
