In the wake of growing clamor for Balayya to be given a more prominent role in the TDP, preferably the post of President of the TDP and leaving Naidu to play a more prominent role at the Centre, it would be interesting to make a brief comparison as to the respective strengths of the two.
Chandrababu has already proved himself in terms of administrative acumen. His ability to control a Political Party is beyond doubt considering the way he came to power sidelining NTR himself and even today, he continues to wield power while continuing to keep the Nandamuri family at bay.
Balayya on the other hand is quite a mercurial character, known to express his displeasure at the drop of a hat. In terms of administrative skills, he is yet to prove himself for the simple reason that he is yet to be entrusted with any significant responsibility on the political scene.
The coming elections will decide this aspect of him once and for all. Yet, the hard core cadre of the TDP along with prominent members of the Kamma community still actually equates the TDP with the Nandamuri family and Balayya’s charisma will definitely play a major role in bringing the TDP the required numbers to form a government in AP.
But if it is a question of having the required ability to successfully governing the Party, Naidu beats Balayya hands down.
The combo of Balayya and NTR Jr could easily draw the voters to the TDP fold, but if it is a question of actually leading the Party itself, Balayya has miles to go!
