President’s Rule in Hyderabad and the State is really turning out to be a blessing, thanks to one person: Governor EL Narasimhan.
The no-nonsense approach of the Governor is there for all to see. When the petrol bunks went on a strike protesting the inspections on them, Narasimhan simply said that if they did not reopen within the hour, he was going to cancel their licenses permanently.
Why were they afraid of inspections if they had nothing to hide, he asked them. Needless, to say within minutes of his warning, all the bunks were open.
Yesterday, again, a group of rabble rousers from Telangana who call themselves politicians and ex-ministers went to the Governor and demanded that free power be supplied to all the farmers of Telangana region in summer and that water from the Nagarjuna Sagar left canal be released immediately.
This is what the Governor told them. “We will definitely help the farmers in genuine need. But free power is not to be misused. It is only for the small and middle income farmers. As for the Nagarjuna Sagar water, there is a separate body to look into it and they know what is right. Good day gentlemen!”.
Surely, with such kind of people at the helm is it not right on the part of the common public if they were to ask for a permanent President’s Rule in the State.
