The farmers of 'Bethapudi' village agreed to the land pooling scheme at the last minute and gave their consent forms to the 900 acres sought by the government. But the visit of Pawan Kalyan has changed all that.
Pawan asked the villagers not to part with their lands if they felt it did not benefit them. He also asked them to oppose any forcible attempts at land acquisition. True to his style, Pawan Kalyan performed the operation after the patient had died.
The farmers had already given their consent letters. But now emboldened by Pawan’s speech, they want their consent letters returned and are now unwilling to part with their lands.
The deputy collector of the district told the farmers that he was not authorized to return the consent letters and would take up the matter with his seniors in the government.
Had Pawan spoken out against land pooling in the beginning itself, it would have helped a lot of farmers. Now, when 90% of the target has been acquired, he is going around instilling false hopes in the farmers.
If he felt so strongly about bifurcation, he should have questioned KCR during the T-agitation itself, not while launching Jana Sena. He should have questioned Naidu‘s capital plans with Singapore at the time of signing the agreement with Singapore government.
Why now after everything has been put in motion? The farmers are probably better off with Naidu than Pawan for a known devil is better than an unknown angel (with three wives).
